After performing a series of specialized surgeries, Iraqi doctor Mohammed Al-Taher concluded his operations in Gaza by successfully reattaching the hand of a child whose hand was amputated due to an Israeli airstrike.Dr.Al-Taher,a neurosurgery consultant, worked tirelessly alongside local surgeons in Gaza for five consecutive months during the ongoing war, saving numerous lives even late into the night.
The child arrived at Al-Aqsa Hospital’s emergency department, severely injured and bleeding after her hand was severed by the bombing. Dr. Al-Taher instructed the child’s uncle to search for the severed hand, which was found in good condition due to the cold weather. The child was immediately taken to the operating room, where the surgery to reattach the hand was successful.
Dr. Al-Taher witnessed many difficult cases during his time in northern Gaza, where lives were lost due to the shortage of specialized medical staff and supplies. He urged medical professionals to come to Gaza to assist in saving lives and called on international organizations to provide the necessary medical supplies. After five months of service, Dr. Al-Taher leaves Gaza, feeling honored for his work but leaving behind a legacy of hope and healing for the injured.
