The Government Media Office in Gaza has marked the grim milestone of 100 days since the onset of Israel’s brutal military offensive on northern Gaza, describing the situation as a “genocidal war” that has systematically targeted Palestinian civilians and infrastructure. The assault has left more than 5,000 Palestinians killed or missing, 9,500 severely injured, and 2,600 detained, including women and children.
In a statement, the office condemned the ongoing Israeli aggression, saying, “One hundred days have passed since the launch of this relentless ground assault, during which the occupation forces have persistently waged a systematic and indiscriminate war on the Palestinian people and their land in northern Gaza.” The statement went on to detail the horrific toll of the attacks, including widespread destruction of homes, hospitals, and public facilities, which it described as part of a deliberate effort to “annihilate all aspects of life in Gaza.”
The past three months have witnessed what the office called “the most harrowing patterns of killing, ethnic cleansing, and displacement” inflicted on Palestinians. The atrocities have exacerbated an already dire humanitarian crisis, with the blockade on Gaza further restricting access to essential supplies of food, water, medicine, and fuel. Families have been torn apart, and entire neighbourhoods have been reduced to rubble. According to the office, the ongoing violence is a flagrant violation of international conventions and norms.
The Government Media Office has placed full responsibility for the humanitarian catastrophe on the Israeli occupation, as well as the United States and other countries that have provided political and military support for Israel. It called on the international community and human rights organisations to intervene urgently, demanding immediate and effective action to halt what it described as “genocide and ethnic cleansing” in Gaza. “The world must not remain silent while an entire population is systematically destroyed,” the statement urged.
This escalation is part of a larger campaign that has stretched over 463 days, during which Israel has intensified its bombardment of Gaza. Backed by U.S. and European support, the Israeli military has targeted hospitals, residential buildings, and civilian infrastructure, leaving at least 155,500 Palestinians killed or injured, most of them women and children. The devastating blockade and destruction have pushed Gaza into the depths of famine and despair, claiming the lives of dozens of children and elderly people every day.
The people of Gaza continue to endure unimaginable suffering, as the international community faces mounting pressure to hold Israel accountable and bring an end to the relentless violence against the Palestinian population.
