The Hind Rajab Foundation, a Belgium-based organisation dedicated to holding Israeli occupation soldiers accountable for their crimes, has filed a criminal lawsuit with the Spanish judiciary against an Israeli soldier accused of committing acts of genocide in the Gaza Strip.
According to Spanish digital outlets such as Huffington Post (Spanish version) and El Confidencial, the foundation took legal action after spotting Israeli soldier Mori Kaiser, a member of the Givati Brigade, vacationing in Barcelona. The lawsuit alleges that Kaiser participated in crimes of genocide, crimes against humanity, and war crimes during the Israeli war of extermination against the Palestinian people in Gaza. The complaint highlights his involvement in systematic violations of international humanitarian law, which included targeting civilians and the infrastructure of a defenceless population.
It is important to note that the foundation carries the name of Hind Rajab, a five-year-old Palestinian girl killed by the Israeli occupation forces when they bombed the car she was in with her family, as well as the paramedics who tried to save her.
The Hind Rajab Foundation had already filed a case against 1,000 Israeli soldiers at the International Criminal Court (ICC) for committing genocide, war crimes, and crimes against humanity in Gaza. The complaint, which was submitted to the ICC in The Hague, includes the names of the accused soldiers and is backed by verified evidence proving their involvement in the war crimes over the course of the ongoing conflict that began on October 7, 2023.
The charges against the accused soldiers include destroying Gaza's infrastructure, targeting civilian homes, schools, and hospitals, participating in the blockade of the strip, preventing humanitarian aid, and using inhumane tactics such as targeting displaced persons' camps and starving families. The foundation has also named high-ranking officers and officials in the Israeli military who are allegedly responsible for planning, executing, and overseeing these atrocities.
This move by the Hind Rajab Foundation could turn the prosecution of Israeli soldiers abroad into a significant diplomatic issue for Israel, leading to international tensions as legal challenges mount against those responsible for the war crimes committed in Gaza.
