Israeli forces launched an unprecedented military operation on Jenin and its refugee camp in the West Bank, named “Iron Wall,” following a decision by the Israeli cabinet to expand military objectives into the West Bank. The operation, involving the Israeli army, Shin Bet, and Border Police, has included ground invasions and airstrikes, with reports of internet disruptions in the camp to hinder resistance coordination.
Palestinian health authorities confirmed that the death toll has risen to 8, with over 35 injured, as Israeli forces continue to block medical teams from reaching the wounded. Among the fatalities are several individuals identified, including Mutaz Abu Tubikh and Raed Abu Saba’a. Israeli snipers stationed on rooftops have further restricted movement, particularly in the besieged Damaj neighborhood.
Resistance factions, including the Jenin Brigades of Saraya al-Quds and the Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades, reported direct confrontations with Israeli forces, causing injuries among Israeli soldiers. Hamas called for a general mobilization across the West Bank, urging intensified clashes at all points of contact with Israeli forces.
The aerial bombardment has caused significant damage in Jenin, including drone strikes near civilian areas. Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa condemned the attacks and called on the international community to intervene, emphasizing that ending Israeli aggression in Gaza and the West Bank is a political and humanitarian imperative.
Hamas vowed that the military operation in Jenin would fail, as previous attempts had, praising the resilience of Palestinian fighters and the population’s steadfastness against ongoing Israeli aggression.
