The Israeli Prisons Administration transferred the prisoner Omar Kharwat (49 years) from the isolation cells of "Megiddo" prison to "Shata" prison, after more than eight months of solitary confinement.
The Palestinian Prisoners Club stated in a press statement on Wednesday that the prisoner Kharwat was subjected to solitary confinement and his companion, the prisoner Hatem Al-Qawasmeh, since March of this year, in cells that are not suitable for human life, and in harsh and difficult conditions. They were also denied family visits, and the prison administration had transferred the prisoner Qawasma previously from the cells of "Gilboa" prison to "Hadarim" prison.
It pointed out that since the beginning of this year, the Israeli prisons administration has escalated the solitary confinement operations against a group of prisoners, as it targets the most influential prisoners in prison and organizational life inside prisons.
The prisoner Kharwat, from Hebron, has been detained since 2002, and he is sentenced to life imprisonment.
