1.9 Million Gazans Left Homeless Amid Mass Destruction, UNRWA Reports

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) has reported that 1.9 million people in Gaza are now homeless due to the widespread destruction caused by Israeli military operations. In a statement released on Friday, UNRWA highlighted the severe displacement of individuals, with many now living in temporary shelters, particularly in areas such as Al-Mawasi in southwestern Gaza.

The agency noted that most homes have either been completely destroyed or rendered uninhabitable, further compounding the challenges faced by Gazans. Rebuilding Gaza’s infrastructure, restoring normal life, and addressing the psychological trauma experienced by its people are expected to take years.

UNRWA expressed deep concern over the dire humanitarian situation, particularly in the northern regions of Gaza. The agency emphasized that following the ceasefire, its teams worked around the clock to distribute food and other essential supplies in northern Gaza.

Hundreds of thousands of Palestinians remain amidst the rubble of what were once their homes, desperately needing life-saving assistance. UNRWA has called for the continuation of its operations to deliver humanitarian aid on a large scale, stressing the critical need for sustained support to alleviate the ongoing suffering in Gaza.
