The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its disapproval of statements made by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in American media, describing them as "false claims and deliberate misinformation."
In a statement, the ministry emphasized that these remarks aim to cover up and divert attention from the blatant violations committed by Israel against civilians, including the destruction of vital Palestinian infrastructure such as hospitals, educational institutions, and water and electricity plants, as well as the use of siege and starvation as weapons against civilians.
The ministry further expressed Egypt's firm rejection of any statements calling for the displacement of the Palestinian people to Egypt, Jordan, or Saudi Arabia, reaffirming its solidarity with the people of Gaza who remain steadfast in their land despite the horrors they face in defense of their just cause.
It also reiterated Egypt’s commitment to the long-standing Egyptian and Arab principles, centered on the right of the Palestinian people to establish their state within the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
With U.S. support, Israel has carried out a 15-month genocide in Gaza, resulting in nearly 160,000 Palestinian martyrs and wounded, most of whom are women and children, along with over 14,000 missing persons. In an interview with Fox News, Netanyahu accused Egypt of preventing Gaza residents from leaving the Strip, stating that "some offered bribes to border guards, so the very wealthy left, but those who wanted to leave could not."
He further claimed that Palestinians in Gaza want to leave and that he had received many requests from them to do so, even before the outbreak of the war on October 7, 2023.
