The Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, announced the postponement of the planned prisoner exchange, citing repeated Israeli violations of the ceasefire agreement. Spokesperson Abu Ubaida stated that Israel has failed to meet key terms, including allowing displaced Palestinians to return to northern Gaza, halting attacks, and ensuring the unrestricted entry of humanitarian aid. He emphasised that while Hamas has upheld its commitments, Israel’s actions have forced them to delay the exchange until further notice.
Abu Ubaida highlighted that Israeli forces have continued their aggression by targeting returning civilians and obstructing relief efforts. He accused Israel of using stalling tactics to avoid fulfilling its obligations, further worsening the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. The situation has raised concerns over Israel’s commitment to the agreement, with growing frustration over the lack of progress in implementing key provisions.
Meanwhile, Salama Marouf, head of Gaza’s Government Media Office, criticised Israel for restricting aid entry and neglecting humanitarian responsibilities. He noted that essential supplies, including food, medicine, and fuel, have been severely limited, deepening the suffering of the population. Marouf called on international organisations to intervene and pressure Israel to comply with the agreed terms to prevent further deterioration of conditions in Gaza.
