"Not for sheltering" Gaza government media clarifies regarding the caravans that entered the Strip

Salama Marouf, Head of the Government Media Office in Gaza, confirmed that a limited number of mobile homes (12 caravans) entered the Gaza Strip this morning, emphasizing that they are intended for use by international organizations and not for sheltering.

Marouf stated in a press release: "We reaffirm that Gaza needs no less than 60,000 mobile homes and 200,000 tents to provide temporary shelter for hundreds of thousands of families who have lost their homes."

He explained, "What has arrived for shelter so far is less than half of our need for tents, with no mobile homes delivered, making it a drop in the ocean of our requirements."

Marouf stressed that "the occupation's behavior remains characterized by procrastination and evasion, and it is trying to renege on its humanitarian commitments, disregarding the humanitarian catastrophe caused by the genocide against our people in the Gaza Strip."

He called on the international community and mediators to pressure for the urgent provision of Gaza's shelter, relief, and healthcare needs, and to prevent the occupation from practicing extortion and taking pleasure in the suffering of our people, exacerbating it by obstructing the entry of these necessities.

He also urged the acceleration of holding an international conference for the reconstruction of Gaza and called on the upcoming Arab summit in Saudi Arabia to adopt a decision to open the Rafah crossing around the clock and allow the entry of all necessary supplies for relief, shelter, and reconstruction, responding to the distress call issued by our people, considering the Gaza Strip as a disaster zone in terms of humanitarian, living, and service conditions.
