Israeli forces have escalated their raids across occupied West Bank cities and refugee camps, arbitrarily abducting several Palestinians.
On Monday, 24 February, Israeli troops stormed the cities of Nablus, Tulkarem, Yatma, Beit Ummar, Kafil Haris, Qabatiya, and Ni’lin, in addition to the villages of Marka and Wadi al-Far’a. The raids also targeted Fawwar, Jalazone, and Tulkarem refugee camps in the southern, central, and northern West Bank.
Local sources reported that Israeli forces abducted a young Palestinian, Saleh Snober, after raiding his home in Yatma.
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has expressed deep concern over the impact of these raids on Palestinian civilians, stating that many families have been forced to flee their homes and seek refuge in overcrowded mosques and schools. “With numerous homes damaged or destroyed, people are struggling to access basic needs such as clean water, food, medical care, and shelter,” the ICRC said in a statement on Monday.
Palestinian presidential spokesperson Nabil Abu Rudeineh accused Israel of systematically destroying infrastructure and detaining civilians to expand its occupation and further isolate Palestinian communities. He warned that Israeli authorities are "completing in the West Bank what they started in Gaza through acts of genocide."
The Israeli army launched its latest offensive against the occupied West Bank on 21 January, under the pretext of targeting resistance fighters from the Jenin Battalion. Violence has surged across the territory since the war on Gaza began on 7 October 2023, with Israeli forces killing at least 923 Palestinians in the West Bank since then.
