Germany, France, and Britain have urgently called for Israel to lift the blockade on Gaza, warning that continued restrictions on humanitarian aid will result in even more deaths from starvation and disease. The foreign ministers of these nations issued a joint statement demanding that Israel allow the immediate and unrestricted entry of aid into the Gaza Strip, in line with international law.
They emphasized that humanitarian aid must not be politicized and that the civilian population must be allowed access to the essentials required for survival. The statement also urged a return to ceasefire, calling on Hamas to release all remaining hostages.
This call comes as Gaza’s residents suffer from the ongoing blockade, with critical shortages of food, medicine, and essential supplies. Over 50 days have passed without sufficient humanitarian aid entering Gaza, leading to a dire situation in which bakeries have shut down, and vital medical resources are exhausted. The UN and Palestinian humanitarian groups have repeatedly stressed that the blockade is a deliberate and systematic attempt to starve the population, exacerbating the crisis.
