West Bank Under Siege as Israeli Forces Ramp Up Arrests and Night Raids

Israeli forces carried out a sweeping campaign of arrests and violent raids across the occupied West Bank on Sunday, leaving a trail of fear, injuries, and destruction in Palestinian communities already under immense pressure.

In Jericho, soldiers stormed residential neighbourhoods, detaining Mohammed Amin Jalaita after raiding his home. The incursion left at least three women and a young girl injured, reportedly beaten during the assault. Medics from the Palestinian Red Crescent confirmed they were transferred to hospital for treatment.

In Zababdeh, near Jenin, a 13-year-old Palestinian boy was shot in the foot with live ammunition during yet another violent raid, underlining the increasing risks children face even inside their homes.

Tulkarem saw the arrest of four young men, including former prisoner Mahmoud Al-Kleibi, while in Nablus, troops seized road construction equipment in what residents say was a targeted act to disrupt community infrastructure between nearby villages.

The crackdown continued in Hebron, where two 16-year-olds were arrested and several others detained in coordinated home invasions. Armed settlers, under the protection of Israeli forces, attacked Palestinian homes in Tel Rumeida, a flashpoint area near the illegal Ramat Yishai settlement, further heightening tensions.

Palestinian workers near Bethlehem were also targeted, with several detained and their vehicle confiscated, underscoring the daily harassment faced by those simply trying to reach their jobs.

This intensifying campaign, marked by arrests, armed settler violence, and assaults on civilians, reflects an escalating pattern of repression across the West Bank—one that Palestinians fear may soon mirror the brutality inflicted on Gaza.
