On Eid Al-Adha, Gaza Endures Fresh Bloodshed Amid Ongoing Israeli Assault

As Palestinians marked the first day of Eid al-Adha, Israeli airstrikes and artillery fire continued to ravage Gaza, claiming more lives in a relentless offensive that has now stretched over 81 days. The latest attacks have deepened the humanitarian catastrophe, with entire families torn apart and residential areas reduced to rubble.

Health officials reported that at least 45 Palestinians were killed in the past 24 hours, pushing the death toll since October 7 to a staggering 54,677, with over 125,530 wounded. Among the dead are children, journalists, and entire families, their lives cut short by strikes that show no sign of abating.

In Khan Yunis, south Gaza, the body of Tamim Abdel-Hadi Muslim Qudeih was pulled from the ruins of a bombed home in Abasan al-Kabira. Nearby, Israeli forces opened fire near Asdaa prison, killing 12-year-old Mohammad Amer Al-Madhoun. His relative, Omar Amer Al-Madhoun, later succumbed to wounds from an earlier attack.

Gaza City and northern areas faced renewed bombardment, with warplanes striking Jabalia and the Al-Tuffah district. A helicopter attack on Sheikh Radwan killed a mother and her child, while artillery pounded Khan Yunis’s northwest.

Journalist Ahmad Qalja became the latest media worker to die, his life taken by an Israeli strike on Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital’s courtyard an attack that also claimed four other journalists. Nearby, six civilians were killed near Al-Shifa Tower, and nine more bodies were recovered in Jabalia and Beit Lahia.

In central Gaza, shells rained down on Al-Nuseirat, Al-Bureij, and Al-Maghazi refugee camps, though no casualties were immediately reported. Yet with hospitals overwhelmed and aid blocked, the true toll remains obscured by the chaos of war.

As Palestinians mourn instead of celebrate this Eid, the world watches in silence, and Gaza’s suffering grows with each passing day.
