Al-Araqib Demolished for the 241st Time as Israel Intensifies Displacement Policies

For the 241st time, Israeli authorities have razed the homes and tents of residents in Al-Araqib, an unrecognised Palestinian Bedouin village in the Naqab (Negev) region, early Tuesday morning. This ongoing campaign of demolitions, spanning over a decade, continues to target a community that refuses to abandon its ancestral land.

So far in 2025, Al-Araqib has faced seven demolitions, part of a relentless effort that has seen homes destroyed year after year. These repeated attacks are widely seen by Palestinians as an attempt to exhaust the village's residents into permanent displacement.

First demolished in July 2010, Al-Araqib has become a stark symbol of Israel's broader policy towards Palestinian communities within the 1948 borders. In parallel, demolitions of homes and businesses continue in other Palestinian towns, from Nazareth and Umm al-Fahm to Jaffa and Lod, often under the pretext of lacking permits, permits systematically denied to Arab citizens.

The bulldozers return again and again, but so do the people. The residents of Al-Araqib continue to rebuild, standing firm against a state project that seeks to erase their existence from the land they call home.
