In what can only be described as a systematic massacre of the starving, at least 300 Palestinian civilians have been killed and 2,649 injured since May 27 near so-called US-Israeli aid centres across Gaza, according to figures released by local authorities on Sunday.
The staggering toll, reported near sites in Rafah and Wadi Gaza, paints a horrific picture of what residents are now calling “death traps.” The victims, many of them children, women, and elderly, were simply trying to reach food. Instead, they were met with bullets, bombs, and chaos.
Between May 27 and June 15, these zones saw repeated bloodshed, with June 11 marking the highest toll as 57 people were killed and 363 injured. On June 10, 36 were killed and 295 injured, while June 1 saw 35 killed and over 230 injured. These are not isolated incidents, but a chilling pattern of attacks targeting desperate civilians.
Officials report that nine people are still missing, likely trapped under rubble or forcibly disappeared. Survivors speak of panic, stampedes, and sniper fire as they attempted to secure a few bags of flour or canned food.
Human rights organisations have sounded the alarm, warning that aid zones without international protection and oversight are becoming weapons of war. Instead of saving lives, these distribution sites have turned into hunting grounds for a population already facing famine and siege.
The Gaza authorities are calling on international bodies to urgently intervene and replace these manipulated military zones with genuine humanitarian corridors. In Gaza today, the cost of hunger is not just pain, it is death.
