Gaza Burns Again as Israel Rejects Ceasefire and Resumes Relentless Assault

After a fragile ceasefire collapsed, the Israeli occupation has resumed its full-scale assault on the Gaza Strip, unleashing a wave of airstrikes that killed over 400 Palestinians and injured at least 500 more, most of them women and children, within hours of the renewed onslaught.

The truce, which began on 19 January and lasted just over two months, was part of a phased agreement that included limited Israeli withdrawal and a hostage exchange. However, Israel refused to proceed with the second stage, effectively derailing the path toward a permanent ceasefire and plunging Gaza back into darkness.

The Israeli military’s latest bombardment marks day 471 of its genocidal war on Gaza, which has killed more than 55,000 people and wounded nearly 130,000, figures that continue to rise amid total collapse of the healthcare system and the siege-induced famine.

Operation “Flood of Al-Aqsa,” launched by Palestinian resistance on 7 October 2023 in response to repeated violations at Al-Aqsa Mosque, has since triggered Israel’s brutal campaign of destruction. While over 1,500 Israelis have been killed, including hundreds of soldiers, the toll on Gaza remains incomparably catastrophic.

Palestinians now face a future buried beneath the rubble of homes, hospitals, and hope, as the world watches a ceasefire replaced once again by silence and smoke.
