Israel’s war on Gaza has entered yet another deadly phase, marked by relentless airstrikes, widespread destruction, and a deepening humanitarian catastrophe. In the past 24 hours alone, more than 80 Palestinians, many of them women and children, have been killed in a series of Israeli attacks across the besieged Strip.
According to Gaza’s Ministry of Health, the overall death toll since October 2023 has surged to over 56,000, with more than 132,000 wounded. The numbers are not just statistics, they are the fragments of lives torn apart by a war that has shown no mercy, even to infants.
This week, two babies, five-month-old Nidal and ten-day-old Kinda, died of malnutrition at Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis. Their deaths, silent and devastating, have become symbols of a blockade that starves Gaza not just of food, but of the right to survive. Gaza’s hospitals have repeatedly warned of a looming health catastrophe as infant formula vanishes and siege conditions tighten.
On the ground, Israeli forces continue to bombard civilians and displace entire neighbourhoods. In Gaza City’s Al-Tuffah district, eight people were killed and over ten wounded in an Israeli strike. In Khan Younis, airstrikes targeted shelters housing displaced families. A fisherman was killed off Gaza’s coast. Civilians queuing for aid near Netzarim were once again attacked. From north to south, Gaza is being dismantled by the hour.
Explosions thunder through Jabalia, Khan Younis, and the outskirts of Gaza City. Drones, booby-trapped robots, and heavy artillery have replaced the sounds of life. Even makeshift aid lines and tent shelters are no longer spared.
As the siege tightens and the bombs fall, the world is left watching. For the people of Gaza, there is no safe place, only endurance, grief, and the unyielding will to survive.
