For the 631st day, Gaza bleeds in silence as Israeli bombardments continue to erase entire families from the map. In neighbourhoods once filled with life, only sand and silence remain. Over 56,000 Palestinians have been killed since October 2023, with thousands more missing or wounded. The toll grows heavier by the hour, yet the world remains indifferent.
In one of the latest attacks, a massive Israeli airstrike west of Gaza City struck a tent encampment near the Holy Family School. The bomb left a crater twenty metres wide, swallowing more than fifteen tents, along with the families who sought refuge there. Witnesses described scenes too horrific to recount, bodies buried beneath sand, cries for help fading into the dust.
Elsewhere, tents sheltering displaced civilians in Khan Younis were bombed, classrooms were turned into rubble, and aid seekers were gunned down as they waited on Salah Al-Din Road. Even hospitals, meant to be sanctuaries, reported casualties as the shelling continued without pause.
The devastation is not limited to bombs. Israeli forces are systematically destroying homes, infrastructure, and hope. Entire neighbourhoods in northern and central Gaza are being levelled, while aid convoys struggle to reach those in need. Médecins Sans Frontières has warned of an imminent collapse of the humanitarian system, calling for international intervention.
As the ground invasion intensifies, thousands remain forcibly disappeared, either under ruins or in undisclosed detention. Gaza is being stripped of its people, its memory, and its future. Yet despite the unbearable loss, the world’s silence grows louder.
