Arab foreign ministers affairs urge Israel to negotiation

The ministers of foreign affairs of Palestine, Egypt, and Jordan,on Saturday, agreed on the need to urge Israel to negotiate in order to reach a final settlement on the basis of a Two-state solution, in a manner that would guarantee the establishment of an independent and sovereign state of Palestine on the borders of 4 June, 1967, with its capital East Jerusalem.

In addition, they agreed to continue work on launching an effective move to resume serious negotiations to end the stalemate situation in the Israeli-Palestinians peace process and create a real political horizon towards a just peace.

This came in a press release following a consultative meeting betweent he ministers of foreign Affairs, Riyad al-Maliki, Sameh Shoukry, and Ayman Safadi to coordinate positions and exchange views on the regional developments and issues and to discuss ways to push the concerned parties to engage in the peace process.

"International legitimacy resolutions, the latest of which is the United Nations Security Council Resolution 2334, and the Arab Peace Initiative, represent the approved references for negotiation, considering negotiation is the only way to bring peace," the ministers confirmed.

The ministers agreed on intensive steps of action to mobilize an international position to address the illegal Israeli measures, especially the construction of settlements, demolishing homes, and seizing lands.

Moreover, they warned of the danger of the Israeli actions as they are illegal practices that violate international law and undermine the Two-state solution and the chances of reaching a just and comprehensive peace.

"Jerusalem is one of the issues of the final solution and it should be resolved through negotiations in accordance with international law and international legitimacy decisions,’ they stated.

They stressed about the need to stop the Israeli occupation power and the violations that target the Arab, Islamic, and Christian identity of Jerusalem and its sanctities, and to change the existing historical and legal status.

The Blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Dome of the Rock with their entire area of 144 dunums is a pure places of worship for Muslims and it is essential to keep the historic Hashemite guardianship over the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem to protect the Arab, Islamic and Christian identity.

The ministers, in the context, warned of the consequences of the financial crisis that UNRWA faces which limits its ability to provide its vital services to the Palestinians.

They appreciated the support provided by the brothers and partners in the international community to UNRWA, stressing the need to urgently work to bridge the deficit in its budget and to provide sustainable support so that it can implement its UN mandate.

In another context, Al-Maliki and Safadi appreciated the great efforts made by Egypt to achieve Palestinian national reconciliation, and they stressed the need to continue to support these fine cooperative efforts.

The three ministers stressed the need to end the decade-long rift between the two Palestinian factions and to unify the Palestinian ranks in order to protect the Palestinian issue and to miss the opportunity for the plans aimed at seizing it. In addition, they agreed to continue the tripartite meetings in order to ensure the highest level of coordination at this sensitive stage.
