Gaza’s Night of Fire: Children Maimed, Families Wiped Out, and Silence Reigns

Under the cover of darkness, the Israeli bombardment of Gaza intensified once again, unleashing one of the deadliest nights in months. More than 100 Palestinians were killed in a wave of targeted strikes across the Strip, as homes, schools, and shelters were turned into rubble. The relentless assault has left blood-stained blankets and scorched tents as the last traces of entire families.

Children, many of them already displaced multiple times, were among the main victims. In the northern Jabalia area, Halima Al-Saadiya School, a refuge for the displaced, was bombed, killing at least eight members of the same extended family. In Al-Shati Refugee Camp, another residential house was hit, leaving behind shattered limbs and the anguished cries of survivors. According to medical sources, at least 10 children lost their limbs in that single strike.

As the attacks rage on, Gaza’s medical teams find themselves under direct threat. A paramedic from the Palestinian Red Crescent was shot while on duty near Khan Younis. Israeli tanks have now pushed dangerously close to Nasser Medical Complex, the last major hospital still barely functioning in southern Gaza, raising fears of an imminent siege.

Since the start of the war, the number of Palestinians killed has surpassed 57,000, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry. The true toll is likely far higher, with hundreds still trapped beneath collapsed buildings and aid workers unable to reach them. Meanwhile, the world continues to watch, frozen in indifference, as Gaza bleeds.
