Israeli Forces Intensify West Bank Crackdown with Mass Arrests and Home Raids

Israeli occupation forces launched a wave of coordinated raids across the occupied West Bank on Tuesday, detaining dozens of Palestinians and ransacking homes in what residents and rights groups have condemned as an ongoing campaign of repression and collective punishment.

In Qalqilya, young Osayd Jumaa Odeh was arrested in Beit Amin village, while troops stationed near the local mosque sowed fear before withdrawing. Hebron witnessed the arrest of seven civilians, with raids targeting Hebron City, Dura, and Al-Dhahiriya, alongside extensive home searches and road closures that paralysed movement in surrounding areas.

Tulkarem saw a similar escalation, with seven Palestinians detained, six from Dhannaba and one from Sida. In Salfit, four members of the Abu Zaher family and Imad Fatouni were arrested with no charges disclosed, while in Bethlehem, raids extended across multiple neighbourhoods. Mufleh Zawahreh was arrested in Wadi Al-Jamal, and his family reported that soldiers looted gold jewellery worth 10,000 shekels.

In Nablus, at least eight were arrested in a wide-ranging pre-dawn assault targeting Balata camp and several villages. Among the detainees were former prisoners, fathers and sons, and community figures. Their homes were left ransacked, and families traumatised.

This sweeping arrest campaign is part of Israel's broader policy to suppress Palestinian resistance and entrench control over the occupied West Bank. It comes amid daily incursions that have grown in intensity since October 2023. Palestinian civilians are facing increased militarisation, arbitrary detention, and the erasure of any sense of safety, even in their own homes.
