Israeli occupation forces carried out a wave of overnight raids across the occupied West Bank on Monday, detaining at least 17 Palestinians from several towns and cities.
In Bethlehem governorate alone, 12 people were arrested, including brothers Iyad and Omar Muhammad, aged 50 and 40, as well as Saeed Osama Harmas, 39, and Yahya Hani Jado, 39, from Bethlehem city. In Al-Obayat, east of Bethlehem, brothers Nu’man and Nader Jibran were detained, while in Tuqu‘, 42-year-old Yasser Mahmoud Sabah was taken. Bassam and Ismail Al-Zeer were also arrested in Janata. In Beit Sahour, Hussam Abu Diya, 47, was detained, while in Hindaza, soldiers arrested 71-year-old Hassan Al-Wardiyan and his son Mahmoud, 48.
Elsewhere, Israeli forces raided the village of Al-Mughayir northeast of Ramallah, arresting 33-year-old Amjad Abu Alia after ransacking his home. Raids also swept through several neighbourhoods in Ramallah and nearby Al-Bireh, including Ain Munjid, Al-Manara, Um Al-Sharayet, and Jabal Al-Tawil, though no arrests were recorded. In Nablus, soldiers detained Imad Yassin from Asira Al-Shamaliya, while in Qalqilya, Marwan Dawood and Ahmad Shawar were taken following house searches. On Sunday evening, Abed Ali Zakarneh was also arrested in Qabatiya, near Jenin.
The detentions come amid an intensification of Israeli raids across the West Bank, marked by near-daily incursions, mass arrests, and destruction of property. Rights groups have warned that such practices form part of Israel’s wider campaign of repression against Palestinians, escalating alongside the ongoing war on Gaza.
