A recent investigation drawing on classified military data has revealed that the vast majority of those killed in Gaza are civilians. According to the report, five out of every six people killed in the territory were non-combatants, with children, women, and the elderly bearing the brunt of the violence. The analysis challenges official claims that many of the dead are combatants, highlighting the scale of civilian loss in an already devastated region.
Experts have described the killings as systematic, with little regard for civilian life. Gaza’s Ministry of Health reports that since the start of the conflict, more than 18,000 children and nearly 10,000 women have been killed, alongside thousands of elderly residents. The overall death toll has now exceeded 62,000, with over 157,000 injured, while hospitals and medical staff struggle to cope with the mounting casualties.
The figures underline the relentless impact on Gaza’s youngest and most vulnerable. A child is killed every 40 minutes, according to the Ministry, and UN agencies confirm that over 540 children have died each month in recent months alone. The scale of civilian suffering paints a grim picture of a population under siege, facing both physical devastation and a profound humanitarian crisis.
