Gaza’s Struggle Continues Amid Blockade and Humanitarian Crisis

Amnesty International has called for an end to the blockade imposed on Gaza, describing it as illegal and a major factor in the ongoing humanitarian emergency. Observers note that the enclave remains largely cut off, with restrictions on food, medical supplies, and essential services severely affecting daily life. Even after the ceasefire, hundreds of Palestinians, including children, continue to die, while the population faces displacement and destruction of homes, infrastructure, and cultural sites.

Since the escalation that began in October 2023, Gaza has been subjected to a genocidal war that has claimed tens of thousands of lives and left much of the territory in ruins. The blockade, enforced both on land and at sea, prevents residents from accessing basic necessities, including the ability to fish or travel safely. Reports highlight that the territory’s health, housing, and governance systems have been devastated, creating conditions that threaten the population’s survival.

International organisations have repeatedly warned that the situation is critical. Despite the ceasefire and the release of surviving prisoners, life in Gaza remains extremely fragile. Millions are confined to a territory where the army maintains control over more than half the land, and essential infrastructure, farmland, and public facilities have been destroyed. Estimates suggest that tens of billions of dollars will be required to rebuild the territory, while calls for coordinated humanitarian access and the lifting of restrictions remain urgent.
