The fragile truce in Gaza appeared increasingly hollow on Saturday as military activity was reported across several parts of the territory, raising doubts about the credibility of commitments to halt the genocidal war. Residents described a morning marked by explosions, sustained gunfire and aerial activity, underscoring how daily life remains shaped by fear despite formal ceasefire announcements.
In central Gaza, aircraft were seen striking areas east of Deir al-Balah and near the outskirts of the al-Bureij refugee camp, while further attacks were reported close to al-Tuffah in Gaza City. To the south, armoured units positioned near Rafah opened fire, and shells landed in eastern districts of Khan Younis. Northern areas were not spared, with heavy fire directed towards zones east of Jabalia, adding to a pattern of pressure spanning the length of the Strip.
Witnesses also spoke of helicopters operating at low altitude, firing repeatedly towards residential zones, as armoured vehicles intensified their activity on the ground. Officials say these incidents have persisted since a ceasefire announced in October, and have continued even after a new phase of the truce was declared earlier this week. Since then, dozens of lives have reportedly been lost, reinforcing perceptions that the genocidal war is being sustained through other means.
As Gaza remains sealed off and vulnerable, each reported breach further erodes confidence in diplomatic assurances. For many residents, the ongoing violence suggests that ceasefire language has yet to translate into genuine protection, leaving the population exposed to a reality that contradicts official claims of de-escalation.
