Israeli forces have continued bombardment across the Gaza Strip despite the ceasefire agreement that came into effect months ago, with Palestinian sources reporting renewed air strikes and artillery fire across multiple areas of the enclave. Medical officials said a 38-year-old man, Basel Abu Warda, was killed after shelling struck a group of civilians near Haidar roundabout west of Gaza City, while five others were wounded in the same attack.
Overnight strikes also hit areas where displaced families had erected temporary shelters, igniting fires among several tents and nearby structures. Although no additional casualties were immediately reported in those incidents, residents described widespread panic as flames spread through parts of the overcrowded encampments where thousands of people have sought refuge during the genocidal war.
Further bombardment was reported across central and southern Gaza. Artillery shells struck areas east of Al Bureij Refugee Camp, while air strikes targeted locations east of Khan Younis. In the Al Mawasi area west of Rafah—a coastal zone crowded with displaced families—additional shelling was reported. In the northern town of Beit Lahia, medical sources said three Palestinians were wounded by gunfire from Israeli forces, including a five-year-old child who was left in critical condition.
Residents in eastern neighbourhoods of Gaza City, including Al-Zeitoun, Shujaiya and Al-Tuffah, also reported heavy shelling and helicopter fire at dawn, adding to the sense that the ceasefire has done little to halt violence on the ground.
According to Gaza’s health authorities, the overall toll of the genocidal war since October 2023 has reached 72,136 Palestinians killed and 171,839 injured. Officials say that since the ceasefire took effect in October 2025, at least 651 Palestinians have been killed and 1,741 injured in what they describe as repeated violations.
Humanitarian groups warn that the continued bombardment, combined with vast destruction of infrastructure and acute shortages of food, medicine and shelter, has pushed Gaza’s population deeper into crisis. For many residents, the persistent attacks underline how fragile the ceasefire remains amid a genocidal war that continues to devastate the territory.
