Health authorities in Gaza have warned that worsening shortages of medicines and essential medical supplies are placing thousands of patients at immediate risk, as Israel’s blockade and ongoing genocidal war continue to cripple the territory’s healthcare system.
Officials said around 250 kidney failure patients could soon lose access to life-saving dialysis treatment due to the depletion of “Bibag” dialysis solution supplies. Another eight children suffering from kidney failure are also at risk of having their dialysis sessions suspended because specialised treatment filters are no longer available.
The shortages are also affecting people living with chronic illnesses. According to Gaza’s health ministry, a lack of insulin injections is threatening the health of nearly 11,000 diabetes patients across the Strip, raising fears of serious complications among those unable to access regular treatment.
Authorities further warned that 110 haemophilia patients have been left without essential medication used to control bleeding disorders, leaving many to endure worsening pain and daily medical complications without adequate care.
Medical officials renewed urgent appeals to international organisations and humanitarian agencies to replenish medicine stocks and deliver critical medical consumables, warning that hospitals and treatment centres are operating under increasingly catastrophic conditions after months of destruction, siege and repeated attacks on healthcare infrastructure.
