Nearly 91,000 Palestinian Students to Sit Secondary School Exams as Gaza Candidates Take Tests Online

Nearly 91,000 Palestinian students are set to begin their secondary school examinations on Saturday, with education authorities implementing different arrangements for candidates in the occupied West Bank and the Gaza Strip amid the continuing impact of the genocidal war.

According to the Ministry of Education, 51,499 students in the West Bank will sit the examinations in person, while 37,698 students in Gaza will complete their assessments entirely online. A further 1,941 Gaza students currently residing abroad will also take part in the examination process from 46 countries around the world.

Most candidates are enrolled in the literary stream, accounting for more than 55,000 students, while over 25,000 are registered in the scientific stream. Others are distributed across Islamic studies, entrepreneurship and business, vocational education and professional competency pathways.

Education officials said preparations for the examination period have been completed, with Gaza students using the Wise School digital platform to sit their tests remotely. Authorities added that, should technical and logistical conditions permit, remaining examinations for Gaza students may later be held in examination halls under arrangements to be announced in due course.

The ministry also confirmed that 65 Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli jails are scheduled to sit the secondary school examinations this year, highlighting ongoing efforts to ensure access to education despite the challenges created by the continuing genocidal war.
