Israeli Attacks Kill Two Palestinians, Wound Schoolgirls Inside Gaza Classroom Compound Despite Ceasefire

SAFA — Israeli forces killed two Palestinians, including a child. They wounded several others across the Gaza Strip on Wednesday. At the same time, two Palestinian schoolgirls were shot during their morning assembly at a school in northern Gaza, as Israeli gunfire, drone strikes, and artillery shelling continued despite the ceasefire agreement.

The latest attacks came a day after seven Palestinians, including a child and a married couple, were killed in separate Israeli strikes across the territory, adding to the growing number of casualties recorded since the ceasefire took effect in October 2025.

In northern Gaza, Palestinian child Abdul Rahman Khalil Awad died from wounds sustained two days earlier in an Israeli attack near the Al-Saroukh intersection, north of Gaza City.

In southern Gaza, an Israeli drone strike killed Ramadan Mohammed Abu Shahada in the Al-Mawasi area of Al-Qarara, north of Khan Younis, as Israeli forces continued targeting Palestinians in areas where displaced families and civilians remain exposed to military attacks.

Another Palestinian was wounded by Israeli gunfire in the Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza, while Israeli artillery shelled eastern neighborhoods of Gaza City and military vehicles opened fire east of Jabalia refugee camp and north of Beit Lahia.

Israeli Gunfire Wounds Two Schoolgirls During Morning Assembly

In one of Wednesday's most disturbing incidents, Israeli forces opened fire toward Muradia Girls' School in Jabalia, northern Gaza, wounding two Palestinian students as they attended their morning assembly.

According to Gaza's Ministry of Education, Suad Qandil Mansour Abdul Rabbo, a sixth-grade student, was shot in the thigh and required surgery, while Amina Khaled Ali Khader, a fourth-grade student, sustained a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

The ministry said Israeli forces fired toward the school and its surroundings while students were gathered for the start of the school day, turning an ordinary school morning into another frightening experience for children already struggling to continue their education amid the devastation of Israel's war.

The shooting has renewed concerns over the safety of Palestinian students attempting to return to classrooms, particularly in northern Gaza, where schools and surrounding neighborhoods remain exposed to Israeli military fire.

For children who have already endured prolonged displacement, the destruction of educational facilities, and the loss of classmates and relatives, the continued danger surrounding schools has made the basic right to education increasingly difficult to exercise safely.

Israeli Attacks Continue Across Gaza Despite Ceasefire

Wednesday's killings and injuries followed another deadly day on Tuesday, when Israeli attacks killed seven Palestinians, including a child and a married couple, and wounded several others, some critically, in different areas of the Gaza Strip.

The continuing use of drone strikes, artillery shelling, and gunfire has left Palestinian civilians facing persistent threats to their lives, even as the ceasefire agreement was intended to bring an end to hostilities and provide protection for the population.

More than a year after the agreement took effect, Palestinians continue to face deadly attacks while attempting to carry out ordinary daily activities, including traveling through residential neighborhoods, returning to their homes, and attending school.

The shooting of two young girls during their morning assembly, alongside the killing of a child from earlier injuries and another Palestinian in a drone strike, underscores the continuing danger facing Gaza's civilian population and the failure of the ceasefire to provide lasting safety.

As Israeli military operations continue across the territory, Palestinian families remain exposed to renewed loss and injury while struggling to rebuild their lives amid widespread destruction, displacement, and the collapse of essential services.
