About 55,000 Palestinian worshipers performed the second Friday prayers of the holy month of Ramadan at the Al-Aqsa Mosque, noting that this number is ten thousand less than the number of worshipers on the first Friday of Ramadan.
The Palestinians challenged the occupation to pray in Al-Aqsa, after the violent confrontations in the occupied city of Jerusalem last night and at dawn today.
About 110 Jerusalemites were wounded, 50 others were arrested, and the property of Jerusalemites was damaged in a number of neighborhoods as a result of settler attacks.
Meanwhile, hundreds of Palestinians responded to settler attacks, despite the occupation soldiers' support for settler terror.
The occupation forces took advantage of the confrontations in Jerusalem by tightening their military restrictions in the Al-Aqsa Mosque, aiming to obstruct and prevent the access of Jerusalemites to Al-Aqsa to perform Friday prayers there.
For his part, the Mufti of Jerusalem and the Palestinian Territories, Sheikh Muhammad Hussein, said that "our people have arrived at the Al-Aqsa Mosque despite all the occupation measures that are rejected by all monotheistic religions and all international and humanitarian norms and laws."
Mufti Hussein added, "Is it acceptable for the worshipers of God to be prevented from their places of worship? Is it acceptable for checkpoints to be placed and for the occupation and its soldiers to attack the fasting worshipers leaving the Al-Aqsa Mosque after performing their prayers?"
