6 Palestinian prisoners continue their open hunger strike

Six Palestinian prisoners in the Israeli occupation prisons continue their open hunger strike, protesting their administrative detention amid a sharp deterioration in their health conditions.

The Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs Committee confirmed in a statement received by Safa agency on Sunday, that there are no serious solutions to this moment regarding their cases. In addition, the occupation authorities are still continuing their refusal to end their arbitrary administrative detention.

It indicated that the oldest hunger striker, Kayed El-faasfous, from Dura in Hebron, is on strike for the 88th day in a row, and the occupation authorities are currently holding him inside Barzilai Hospital in a critical and dangerous health condition.

As for the prisoner Miqdad al-Qawasma from Hebron, who is on hunger strike for the 81st day, is currently detained in Kaplan Hospital, and his health condition is very critical, and the administrative detention order issued against him has been frozen.

The Committee clarified that the freezing order does not mean canceling the administrative detention decision, but in fact disclaims the responsibility of the occupation prisons and intelligence services (Shin Bet) for the fate and life of the prisoner al-Qawasmeh and turns him into an unofficial prisoner detained in the hospital, and remains under the guard of the security of the hospital instead of Guarding the wardens.

The health conditions of all the striking prisoners have become very difficult and worsen with the passage of time.

It expressed concern for the lives of all the striking prisoners, holding the occupation authorities fully responsible for their fate.

The human rights and humanitarian institutions, led by the Red Cross, were called on to an immediate and rapid intervention to stop the unjust policy of administrative detention against the Palestinian people, and to find serious solutions for these strikers before their loss.
