A Family's Struggle in Beit Lahya Amid Ongoing Israeli Bombardments

Since October 6, 2024, the northern Gaza governorate, particularly Beit Lahya, has been subjected to relentless attacks by the Israeli military in one of the most violent offensives since the start of the conflict.

Hayder, a driver for Médecins Sans Frontières, is trapped in Beit Lahya with ten family members, including his wife, who suffers from rheumatoid arthritis and urgently needs surgery for her joints. After fleeing Al-Yemen Al-Saeed Hospital due to Israeli evacuation orders, they sought refuge near Kamal Adwan Hospital on November 5. Despite several attempts to escape, Israeli checkpoints block their passage, forcing them to return to an increasingly dangerous environment. The bombardments are constant, and fear is ever-present, with Hayder constantly wondering if he will survive long enough to see his children safe.

This dire situation reflects the systemic oppression faced by Palestinians, who are not only fighting for survival but also for their right to live with dignity in their own land. Despite international calls for a ceasefire, Israeli violence continues, exacerbated by a lack of access to medical care and basic necessities, while humanitarian aid struggles to reach those in need.
