Human Rights Advocate Calls for Global Action Against Gaza Genocide

Human rights activist in Palestine Farid Al-Atrash

Fareed Al-Altrash, a prominent human rights advocate, has called on the international community to take urgent action to halt the genocide being carried out by the Israeli occupation in Gaza, which has persisted for over 14 months. In an interview with Shehab News Agency, Al-Altrash stressed the moral and legal obligation of the world to intervene and stop the ongoing atrocities against the people of Gaza.

Al-Altrash expressed hope that the recent remarks by former Israeli Defence Minister Moshe Ya'alon, in which he acknowledged the ethnic cleansing occurring in northern Gaza, could serve as a catalyst for international action. Ya'alon’s controversial statement, which admitted to the Israeli military's role in the displacement and destruction of homes in areas like Beit Lahiya and Beit Hanoun, has stirred significant debate, but he stood by his words, insisting that his description of ethnic cleansing was accurate.

The human rights advocate highlighted that Israeli political leaders are pushing the army to commit further war crimes, with the evacuation of northern Gaza's residents being part of a broader strategy aimed at expanding settlements. Al-Altrash emphasized that these actions should lead to stronger decisions from both the International Court of Justice (ICJ) and the International Criminal Court (ICC).

Al-Altrash came to the conclusion that the remarks made by retired Israeli officials support the international agreement that the events in Gaza amount to crimes against humanity, war crimes, and genocide. He called on the international community to guarantee that the victims receive justice and to hold all of the perpetrators accountable.
