Under Fire: Kamal Adwan Hospital Director Appeals for Urgent International Action as Attacks Escalate

Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, Director of Kamal Adwan Hospital, has issued a dire statement regarding the ongoing attacks on the hospital. He reported that gunfire has been relentless since this morning in the area surrounding the hospital, with artillery shells hitting nearby buildings. Just recently, bombs were dropped in the hospital’s courtyards, targeting the facility with drones and warplanes.

Dr. Abu Safiya emphasized the severe danger posed by the attack, noting that anyone stepping outside the hospital is at risk of being targeted. Furthermore, the hospital’s generators were struck, causing a fire that destroyed one of them, and the fuel tank, which is full, is now at risk of igniting. This could lead to a catastrophic situation for both the staff and anyone inside the hospital.

The director confirmed that the occupation forces have been directly bombing the hospital, focusing their attacks on the surrounding area, including heavy shelling from tanks and aircraft. The situation remains extremely dangerous, and despite numerous appeals to the international community, no intervention has been made to stop the brutal and indiscriminate attacks on the hospital.

Dr. Abu Safiya added that the hospital, which provides essential services for children, women, and the injured in northern Gaza, is being targeted as if it were a military facility. He called for an immediate end to the attacks and for the international community to intervene, stressing that evacuating the hospital would put the lives of injured patients at significant risk due to its location in the middle of a residential area.

The hospital director appealed for international support to ensure the safety of the hospital and its medical staff, demanding that the hospital be neutralized and allowed to continue its operations without the threat of evacuation.
