Dr Said Salah, Medical Director of the Friends of the Patient Charity Hospital in northern Gaza, has issued a grave warning about an acute oxygen shortage threatening the lives of patients, particularly vulnerable infants in the neonatal unit.
The hospital, the region's sole provider of intensive care and neonatal services, is struggling to operate as Gaza City’s central oxygen station supplies only ten cylinders per day—far below the hospital's daily requirements.
“This crisis directly puts children’s lives at risk,” said Dr Salah, highlighting the urgent need for a dedicated oxygen station to sustain life-saving care for ICU and neonatal patients.
Dr Salah urgently appealed to international organisations, calling for immediate intervention to equip the hospital with adequate oxygen resources. "The lives of our youngest and most fragile depend on it," he warned, urging swift action to avert further tragedy.
