The Palestinian Ministry of Health has issued an urgent warning about the dire conditions plaguing Gaza’s healthcare system as a result of the ongoing genocidal war. The Ministry highlighted a critical shortage of fuel, which has brought hospitals, oxygen stations, medicine storage refrigerators, and infant incubators to the brink of collapse.
“There is no fuel stock in Gaza’s hospitals due to the rationing policy imposed by the Israeli occupation since the start of the war,” the Ministry stated, emphasising that the remaining healthcare facilities in Gaza are on the verge of a total shutdown.
Adding to the crisis, the Ministry accused Israeli forces of forcing aid convoys, including fuel trucks, to use unsafe routes where thieves and highway robbers steal the supplies under the occupation’s protection. “The last shipment of fuel was stolen yesterday while en route to hospitals through international organisations,” the Ministry revealed.
The Ministry reiterated its urgent appeal to international and humanitarian organisations to intervene immediately to secure fuel for hospital generators and other essential healthcare facilities. Without intervention, the health crisis in Gaza will escalate further, putting thousands of lives, including those of vulnerable infants, at imminent risk.
This crisis underscores the devastating impact of the ongoing war on Gaza’s civilian infrastructure, particularly the healthcare system, which has been repeatedly targeted and strained beyond capacity. Calls for international accountability and immediate humanitarian action continue to grow as the situation worsens.
