The United Nations has raised alarm over the continued threat posed by explosive remnants of war in Gaza and the West Bank, warning of the dangers to civilians and the disruption of humanitarian aid efforts, even after a ceasefire is in place.
According to UN officials, a variety of unexploded ordnance, including air-dropped bombs, missiles, and artillery shells, remain scattered across affected areas, leading to casualties and complicating relief operations. Reports indicate a rising number of victims, as well as growing concerns over the presence of explosive materials in residential zones.
A joint UN report has also highlighted the severe environmental and health risks posed by war debris in Gaza, stating that the scale of destruction exceeds that of previous conflicts. The widespread presence of unexploded ordnance within the rubble, along with other hazardous materials, presents a significant long-term threat, particularly in refugee camps and densely populated areas.
