Security Council to Hold a Meeting Discussing Israeli Annexation

The UN has announced that the UN Security Council is planning to hold a high-level meeting this week concerning the Middle East, and the plan of Israeli annexation of Palestinian lands.

This came at a press conference held by Farhan Haq, Deputy Spokesman for the United Nations Secretary-General, in a television interview with journalists at the headquarters of the International Organization in New York.

Haq said: "Both Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, and the Envoy for the peace process in the Middle East, Nikolai Miladinov, are strongly involved in the issue of Israel's decision to annex Palestinian lands."

He noted that it is expected that Miladinov will provide a statement to the members of the Security Council on the issue of annexation, and it is very likely that the Secretary-General will inform the members on this issue too.

Recently, Benjamin Netanyahu has announced, on more than one occasion, that starting in July, his government will annex up to 30% of the occupied West Bank.

As a result, the Palestinian officials responded last May that the PLO is going to dissolve the agreements with "Israel" and the United States.
