The spokesperson for the Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas, Abdul Latif Qanoua, confirmed that there are positive signals regarding the release of prisoners as part of the seventh batch of the “Flood of the Free” exchange deal.
In statements made on Sunday morning, Qanoua said that there is "intensive communication with mediators, and there are positive indications for the release of the prisoners."
He added, "We have confirmed to the mediators our readiness for negotiations on the second phase of the Gaza agreement. We are prepared to release all prisoners in one batch if the aggression is halted completely, the occupation fully withdraws, and the reconstruction process begins."
Qanoua emphasized that the Israeli occupation’s failure to release the prisoners from the seventh batch on the agreed-upon date constitutes a "blatant violation of the agreement."
He further stated, "While Hamas has responded positively to the mediators’ efforts to ensure the success of the exchange process, the war criminal Netanyahu continues to stall and delay the release of the prisoners."
He urged mediators and guarantors of the agreement to pressure the occupation to respect the ceasefire deal and implement its terms without delay or evasion.
The Israeli occupation authorities have postponed the release of hundreds of Palestinian prisoners, who were scheduled to be freed on Saturday as part of the seventh batch of the “Flood of the Free” prisoner exchange under the first phase of the ceasefire agreement.
In a brief statement early Sunday, the Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoners Club announced that Israel had postponed the release of Palestinian prisoners "until further notice."
Meanwhile, the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office stated early Sunday that it had decided to *"delay the release of Palestinian prisoners until it ensures the next group of hostages are freed without any 'provocative ceremonies'."*
