Gaza’s Lifeline Strangled as Millions Endure Hunger and Airstrikes

For over seven weeks, more than two million Palestinians in Gaza have been caught in a relentless nightmare—bombarded from the skies, starved on the ground, and abandoned by much of the world. As the siege tightens, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) warns of a catastrophe unlike any seen before.

Since 18 March, Israel has intensified its military campaign across Gaza, reducing homes, schools, and hospitals to rubble, while sealing off every point of entry for humanitarian aid. Food, medicine, fuel, and essential supplies have been deliberately blocked at the borders. Warehouses in Egypt and elsewhere overflow with life-saving items that never make it past the gates into Gaza. The result is devastating: children fainting from hunger, families drinking contaminated water, patients dying for lack of treatment.

This is not a natural disaster—it is man-made. Entire families, many of them refugees several times over, are now starving in plain sight. There is no safe zone, no refuge, no escape. Aid agencies are paralysed, with convoys forced to turn back, while international pleas fall on deaf ears. The people of Gaza are being punished collectively, their lives treated as collateral in a war that knows no limits.

What is unfolding is not just a humanitarian crisis—it is a political failure. And the cost is borne by civilians who had nothing to do with the violence. Children grow up with the sound of drones instead of lullabies. Parents dig through rubble in search of their sons and daughters. The world watches, issues statements, but takes no decisive action.

Unless the blockade is lifted and aid allowed to flow freely, Gaza’s people will continue to suffer—and die—in a cage of silence. And history will remember not only what was done, but who stood by and allowed it.
