Gaza has entered the deadliest phase of famine since the start of the war, as Israel’s total blockade continues unabated. For over two months, not a single truck of food, medicine, or fuel has been allowed in. UN agencies now warn of a mass death toll, particularly among children, the chronically ill, and the elderly.
The World Food Programme confirmed that its last supplies ran out days ago. Makeshift meals in communal kitchens now offer less than a quarter of the daily nutritional needs, while bakeries have shut down for lack of flour and fuel. Families are eating whatever they can find—grass, spoiled food, and animal feed—just to survive. Malnutrition cases have surged past 65,000, with visible signs of wasting among children in every corner of the besieged Strip.
The UN reports that 95% of humanitarian agencies have been forced to suspend operations. Water has become nearly impossible to find after fuel shortages shut down Gaza’s desalination plants. Health systems are crumbling: 350,000 chronically ill patients are now without life-saving medication, and over 22,000 people—including 12,500 cancer patients—are being denied treatment abroad.
Gaza’s community kitchens are now closing one by one. Aid workers warn that if crossings remain sealed, a complete collapse of food and healthcare infrastructure is inevitable. Yet even as international law demands unimpeded humanitarian access, the siege remains total, and Gaza’s population is being pushed toward starvation in plain view of the world.
