Telecommunications Collapse Deepens Isolation in Gaza

A new communications blackout has hit central and southern Gaza, cutting landline and internet access as Israeli attacks continue to cripple the Strip’s infrastructure. The Palestinian Telecommunications Regulatory Authority confirmed that bombardment has once again damaged vital networks, compounding a crisis already worsened by fuel shortages and the obstruction of repair crews.

This marks yet another wave of blackouts since October, leaving civilians and humanitarian teams in near-total isolation. The lack of connectivity has repeatedly hampered medical response and aid coordination, with recent outages lasting up to five consecutive days.

Amnesty International warned that such blackouts are not just a technological issue but a deepening of the humanitarian disaster. By severing communications, civilians are cut off from lifesaving information and the world is denied evidence of the ongoing violations. The UN has described the situation as one of “near-total paralysis”, a deliberate silencing of a population already under siege.
