MSF Alerts to Deepening Health Crisis in West Bank Amid Israeli Restrictions

Doctors Without Borders (MSF) has raised serious concerns about the worsening humanitarian situation in the occupied West Bank as Israeli military measures intensify. The organisation condemned the ongoing restrictions on Palestinian movement and access to healthcare, which are severely hampering the delivery of essential medical services to a vulnerable population. MSF called for an immediate end to coercive tactics that contribute to forced displacement and de facto annexation.

Since mid-June, Israeli forces have closed all major checkpoints and roads leading to Hebron for consecutive days, forcing patients, including those requiring urgent care, to travel on foot under constant threat. The heightened military presence and frequent raids have made mobile clinics in Hebron and Nablus inoperable, while operations in Jenin and Tulkarm have been reduced, leaving many patients dependent on remote consultations.

MSF highlighted that these harsh policies are part of a broader escalation since October 2023, marked by movement restrictions, home demolitions, and systematic obstruction of healthcare and education access. The organisation warned that these measures risk collapsing the already fragile health infrastructure, directly endangering civilian lives.

Urgently appealing to the international community, MSF urged more than mere verbal condemnation, demanding concrete pressure on Israeli authorities to halt excessive force and lift movement restrictions. Without immediate action, the health crisis in the West Bank will deepen, worsening suffering for Palestinians trapped under occupation.
