Gaza’s Ministry of Health has reported yet another harrowing 24 hours, with at least 70 Palestinians killed and 332 wounded as Israel’s military campaign against the besieged enclave shows no sign of slowing. The figures, released on 5 July, come amid growing fears that the true toll may be far higher, as many victims remain unreachable beneath rubble or in areas too dangerous for emergency crews to access.
Since October 2023, over 57,000 Palestinians have been killed and nearly 136,000 injured. In just the last few months, since March, more than 6,700 lives have been lost. And among the latest casualties are those simply trying to survive: 23 of the dead and over 50 of the wounded were caught in attacks targeting aid convoys. The total number of aid workers and civilians killed while seeking food has now surpassed 740.
Gaza’s hospitals, overwhelmed and under siege, are operating far beyond capacity. Rescue teams continue to risk their lives to reach those in need, but access remains perilous. Health authorities are pleading for urgent international intervention, not just to stop the bombing, but to ensure that lifesaving aid and medical support can reach a population that has endured nearly two years of war, famine, and trauma. As the death toll climbs, so does the silence of the world.
