An Israeli massacre committed against a Gazan family in 2009

Today marks the twelfth anniversary of the merciless massacre the Israel army committed against Al-Sammoni family in Gaza in 2009, which left 29 martyrs; half of them are children and women.

On January 4th 2008, during the Gaza war, an Israeli military force, heavily armed, broke in the homes of Al-Sammoni family.

After killing a number of the family members with a cold blood, the military force gathered about 100 individuals in one home, and bombed it with military tanks. Hence, 29 were killed and dozens were injured.

Israeli forces prevented emergence vehicles from taking the injured and martyrs out of the home, while some survivors could run away from the Israeli bullets and shells carrying out some of the injured with them.

3 days later, Red Cross crews picked the rest of the injured who were still alive, and pulled out the martyrs’ bodies from under the debris 13 days after the withdrawal of the Israeli forces from the area.

Following the massacre, the Israeli bulldozers started changing the shape of the area Al-Sammoni family was living in, in which they destroyed several houses and dredged dunums of agricultural lands.

In May 2012, the military court of Israel closed the investigation file of the involvement of the Israeli army in killing 29 of Al-Sammoni family, and issued a decision not to hold accountable the responsible officer for bombing the family’s home.
