At least four people, including a child, have been killed following an air strike in northern Gaza, according to emergency responders operating in the territory. The strike reportedly targeted a police vehicle in Gaza City, leaving several others injured, some of whom were taken to already overstretched medical facilities. Scenes from the aftermath show residents gathering around the victims in streets lined with extensive destruction, underscoring the ongoing toll on civilian areas.
The latest deaths come despite a ceasefire that has been in place since October 2025, a period that has nevertheless seen continued violence and mounting casualties. Local health officials report that more than 700 Palestinians have been killed since the truce began, with civilians accounting for the vast majority. Earlier the same day, another man was reportedly shot dead in Beit Lahia, further north, adding to the sense that the ceasefire has offered little meaningful protection on the ground.
Israeli authorities said they were reviewing the circumstances surrounding the strike. However, repeated incidents of this nature have raised growing concerns about the durability of the ceasefire framework and the extent to which it is being observed. For many in Gaza, daily life continues to unfold against the backdrop of a prolonged genocidal war, with limited respite from air strikes, gunfire and widespread devastation.
