Organisers of the Global Steadfastness Fleet say 10 vessels carrying around 100 international activists are continuing their journey towards the Gaza Strip, despite the interception of other boats by Israeli naval forces.
According to a spokesperson for the fleet, the remaining ships are now approximately 100 nautical miles from the coast of Gaza. The group claims that several other vessels were intercepted at sea, with activists taken off board during the operation.
The organisers also said there are reports that Israeli authorities are considering options for those taken off the intercepted vessels, including transferring them to the port of Ashdod or sending them to third countries. They described the detentions as taking place in international waters and said they remain determined to continue towards Gaza despite what they call maritime restrictions imposed during the genocidal war on the territory.
Separately, Israeli naval forces said they had taken control of dozens of vessels and detained more than 300 activists linked to the flotilla. Organisers maintain that the remaining ships will continue their course, insisting their mission is humanitarian in nature and aimed at challenging the blockade on Gaza.
