Hamas meets with Palestinian factions in Lebanon

Deputy Hamas chief Saleh Al-Arouri has received high-profile delegations from major Palestinian factions in the movement’s office in Beirut.

Senior members from the Popular Front of the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), the Popular Front of the liberation of Palestinian General Command (PFLP-General Command), and the Democratic Front of the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP) met with the Deputy Hamas chief.

Deputy Chief of the PFLP, Abu Ahmed Fouad, the secretary-general of the PFLP-General Command, Talal Al-Naji, Deputy Chief of DFLP, Fahed Suliman, headed the delegations.

The meeting was attended by the head of Hamas national relations office, Husam Badran, Head of National Relations Department Abroad, Ali Baraka, and Hamas’s representative in Lebanon, Ahmed Abudulhadi.

Al-Arouri discussed the latest developments concerning the Palestinian cause in the meeting, especially the ongoing dangers and challenges.

Following consultations with the Palestinian factions, Hamas stated the following:

First: The Palestinian factions hailed the heroic steadfastness of the Palestinian people in the ‘Sword of Jerusalem’ battle. Appreciating the outstanding performance of the Palestinian resistance, the factions emphasized that the Palestinian people living inside of Palestine and in the diaspora are united behind the resistance that defends the Palestinian people and their holy places.

Second: The factions confirmed that Palestinian unity could be achieved through holding the general elections and the restructuring of the Palestinian home and reactivating the PLO institutions, in addition to forming a new national council based on partnership and putting forward a strategy for resisting the Israeli occupation.

Third: The factions condemned normalizing ties with the Israeli occupation by some Arab regimes as a stab in the back of the Palestinian people and treason to the Arab and Islamic Ummah. They called on the governments that have normalized ties with the Israeli occupation to backtrack on this move and suspend their relations with the Israeli occupation.

Fourth: The factions saluted the Palestinian detainees in Israeli jails and appreciated their steadfastness. They emphasized that the resistance would not abandon them nor spare any effort to free them.

Fifth: the factions condemned the framework agreement between UNRWA and the United States. They considered this agreement as a tool that turned the agency into a spy on its employees and the Palestinian people, as it altered the primary role of UNRWA as an international organization established in 1949 to provide services to the Palestinian refugees until they return to their hometowns and villages they there expelled from in 1948, as per 194 UN resolution.

Sixth: The faction stressed the necessity to enhance relations with the Arab and Islamic nations, along with the free peoples of the world. They also called for mobilizing support for the Palestinian cause and the Palestinian resistance, noting that the Israeli occupation must be isolated and Israeli leaders must be held accountable at the International criminal court.

Seventh: The factions agreed to enhance bilateral relations and cooperation between all the Palestinian factions, especially consultations about the general conditions of the Palestinian cause. They also emphasized that the Palestinian factions must support the steadfastness of the Palestinian people, work on lifting the 15-year-long Israeli blockade, alleviate the difficult conditions of the Palestinians, and fulfill their aspiration in liberation, return, and independence.
