Palestinian Families Endure Relentless Hardship as Israeli Assault on Gaza Continues

For over 19 months, Israel’s brutal offensive on Gaza has forced countless Palestinian families into unbearable conditions, with displacement, starvation, and constant fear defining their daily lives. Among them is Mohammed Abu Amsha, who now lives in a makeshift tent in Deir al-Balah after fleeing Israeli bombardment in northern Gaza.

Abu Amsha describes the war as merciless, recalling the massacres that drove him south in a desperate bid to keep his children alive. "Displacement is agony," he says. "Living in a tent means fighting every day for water, food, and safety." His home was destroyed during a brief ceasefire, leaving him no choice but to flee again when Israel resumed its attacks.

Since March, nearly 400,000 more Gazans have been displaced, many under forced evacuation orders. Yet, as UNICEF reports, countless others remain trapped—unable to move due to exhaustion, lack of shelter, or the simple impossibility of surviving another journey. With aid blocked and infrastructure obliterated, Gaza’s people face an unrelenting struggle for survival under siege.
