For over a month now, Gaza has endured relentless and devastating Israeli bombardments by air, sea and land. With the firm backing of the United States and the passive complicity of much of the international community, the siege tightens, and the destruction spreads. The people of Gaza, already displaced and starved of basic necessities, continue to suffer under a campaign that many describe as nothing short of genocide.
In the early hours of Tuesday, Israeli airstrikes intensified across the Gaza Strip. Residential tents, already torn by past strikes, were once again reduced to rubble. Families sheltering atop the ruins of their previous homes were targeted, including in Khan Younis and northern Jabalia. In one of the deadliest attacks, eleven people were killed when a home near the Moza roundabout in central Khan Younis was struck without warning. Elsewhere, tents were set ablaze, killing and injuring displaced civilians who had nowhere else to go.
Municipal infrastructure continues to be systematically destroyed. An Israeli helicopter strike demolished a garage belonging to Jabalia municipality, destroying essential equipment. Bulldozers, used to clear rubble and search for bodies, were among the machines obliterated—another blow to already overwhelmed rescue efforts.
According to the Gaza Ministry of Health, since the breakdown of the March ceasefire and the resumption of Israeli attacks on 18 March 2025, at least 1,864 people have been killed and nearly 5,000 injured. The total death toll since the beginning of the Israeli military assault on 7 October 2023 now exceeds 51,000.
In the midst of the violence, voices from Gaza are calling out for the world to act. Yahya Al-Sarraj, the mayor of Gaza City, warned of a looming humanitarian collapse. He described the water crisis as catastrophic, as Israeli forces have destroyed vital water wells and blocked efforts to restore access. “We lack the tools, the materials, even the most basic support,” he said. “And the world watches.”
Gaza is bleeding. It is not the absence of information but the absence of will that allows this to continue. Each day without action is another day of suffering for the people of Gaza—trapped, unheard, but still resisting.
